Itinerary

Porto has a fascinating history, but like any city in the world it also has a dark and sinister side. In this Free Tour of the hidden and unknown Porto, you will learn spooky stories and anecdotes as you walk around the city as the night falls.

We will walk through emblematic places of Porto such as the São Bento Station and the Clérigos Tower, but beyond the conventional stories and facts, you will learn about the hidden mysteries, legends and darkest anecdotes. Surely you have never heard of the ghost of São Bento or in which famous places of Porto executions were carried out.

Speaking of legends, you will understand why the people of Porto are called "tripeiros", as well about the exciting history of the old ghetto and the Jewish community that lived in secret (including the synagogue) and what happened in the enigmatic and secret Armenian quarter.

You will hear stories about Porto's legendary characters: from famous bandits, prostitutes, ghosts and outlaws to the history and future of the man who was the richest man in Porto and what happened to his fortune.

Late at night, we will walk through places like the Old Jail and the Palace of the Sirens while you learn about other unusual legends such as the crime of Rua do Sol and the flower poisoner.

After two hours and 15 minutes, the tour ends at the Douro Docks, where you can continue enjoying the nightlife of the port.
